“I work as a Mentor to my Team and Work as a Partner to my Clients”: Gita Chaudhry

Realising this issue on the occasion of women’s day, I take pride in sharing the insights from one such women entrepreneur Gita Chaudhry, Founder, Terra Tales who has worked really hard with her team which in turn has fetched her all that she deserved. Terra Tales offers customized and highly result oriented solutions to its hotel and resort partners. The organization has a highly energetic, devoted and focused team that brings forward collective decades of experience and takes pride in covering several extra miles to achieve results in a fair and square fashion. The key objective of Terra Tales, the hotel marketing company Delhi, is to work for the qualitative and quantitative improvement of the partner hotels/ resorts which includes an increase in revenue on a yearly basis. The company achieves its objectives with a range of tools, technology and solutions that enable the partners to reach out to the target audiences in domestic and international markets through selected online and offline interventions and initiatives


1. Tell us about your journey i.e. challenges, compromises and milestones.

It has been an exciting and eventful journey and it was never easy by any standards. Handling key profiles at the top hotel chains provided great experiences and exposure, but operating a business is a different ball game altogether. People Management, Resource Management, Acquisition and Sustenance of Clients, Vendor Management, Payments and so on; the list of tasks to be handled were endless and being a small enterprise, every team member had to handle a range of tasks, but it yielded great outcomes. There were hiccups and roadblocks in between, but the clients reposed faith in us and supported us beyond limits and endorsing selected properties for inbound and domestic guests proved to be great milestones to us.

What is your current role like?

I work as a mentor to my team and work as a partner to my clients. I help, enable and empower my dedicated team to develop robust processes so that we may serve our clients in the best possible manner. With clients, I work closely to help them improve

further, build genuine image and position themselves aptly for the target audience for desired qualitative and quantitative outcomes.


Can you throw some light on your career graph? What has your career path been?

I have been a learner all my life. I started my career in the Hospitality sector and went slow and steady. I never refused any assignment or task as I took it as a learning cycle and when eventually I discovered my passion for sales and marketing, these additional learnings helped me a great deal. I was able to move up the ladders because of the hard work I had done in not directly related arenas.


How do you wish to lure the Indian traveller post pandemic?

Well, we never lure the tourists and travellers. We genuinely and earnestly showcase our offerings after understanding their taste, temperament and inclination and make it a point that wherever they travel with us shall be safe, secured and wellness oriented. Everyone loves to travel and when they receive this genuine care, warmth and concern, they enjoy their travel to the hilt.


What is the set of advice you have for the millennials who wish to grow in this sector?

I wish to state that never ever carry this myth that technology can replace human touch. It never can. Be genuine, go slow, stay and show real concern, step out of your comfort zone to serve and if you are able to imbibe these attributes, you will be able to mark a name for yourself in this sector and honestly stating any sector.
